Servo Interconnect is proud to be an official product sponsor of The BLOODHOUND Project. This iconic challenge, lead by Richard Noble OBE, aims to create a land speed record car capable of 1,000mph.
The 12.8m long, 6,422kg (fuelled), jet and rocket-powered vehicle will be more advanced than most spacecraft and faster than a bullet fired from a handgun. Its 900mm diameter wheels will spin at over 10,000rpm, generating 50,000 radial g at the rim. The car will accelerate from 0 – 1,050mph in 40 seconds and at V-max (maximum velocity), the pressure of air bearing down on its carbon fibre and titanium bodywork will exceed twelve tonnes per square meter. At this speed, the driver will be covering a distance equivalent to over four football pitches every second, or 50m in the blink of an eye.
As the official distributor of Deutsch Autosport connectors we will supply the connectors that have been designed into the engine wiring systems that will be used to control the jet engine and also will be utilised on the harnesses for the rest of the vehicle and associated support vehicles. This build will be prepared with the same materials and techniques used on a Formula One car. It is planned that Deutsch’s revolutionary System 30 will be used in the loom because of its amazing strength and weight saving properties.
Paul Webb, Deutsch’s Autosport Specialist comments "We look forward to seeing Autosport Connectors break the 1000mph mark – not something we see during an F1 race weekend, technical challenges don’t come much bigger than The Bloodhound programme".
